Playwright - The Dragon
Alison Vodnoy toured her original one-woman show, In Rehearsal, to the Cincinnati, Minnesota, and Indianapolis Fringe Festivals, as well as to theaters in Chicago and Minneapolis. For its 2008 premiere in Cincinnati, In Rehearsal was recognized with two Cincinnati Acclaim Awards, one for solo performance and one for solo script. Currently, Alison is working on a commission from CCM to adapt James Joyce’s Ulysses, which will be directed by Michael Burnham in Spring 2012. Last year, Alison's play, The Eyes of Oedipus, a re-imagining of King Oedipus for two actors, premiered at the Know Theatre to excellent reviews. She has also written The Whole, a full-length play which explores stripping and sex work through monologue, dialogue, and strip-tease. This past fall, one of her short plays was featured at the World Peace Yoga Conference as part of a discussion about how human action affects animals, people, and the Earth. In addition to playwriting, Alison has several poetry cycles ranging from themes of love to elementary school. She is currently working on a larger collection about the inner beloved. Alison holds a BFA from The Cincinnati Conservatory of Music (CCM).
