John Lewandowski

Artistic Director of Madcap Puppets

In both artistic and executive director positions, Lewandowski has devoted his career of more than 25 years to creating puppet theatre and animating cultural organizations throughout the USA and Europe. John was the Co-Director of Underground Railway Theater in Boston from 1980-1987, Artistic Director of Theater de Marionnette de Geneve, in Switzerland from 1990-2002. His credits include collaborations with symphony orchestras including thhe Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Detroit and Boston symphonies, theaters and schools including, l'Insituto de Actor in Seville, the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center, Harvard University, and the Public Theater in New York where he worked with Julie Taymor and Elizabeth Swados. John was also instrumental in the formation of the resident puppet ensemble at the Riksteatret of Norway, and piloted collaborations and cultural exchanges in Norway, Switzerland, Romania, and the United States, where he was twice cited for excellence by the UNIMA (Union International de la Marionette).
