Know Theatre of Cincinnati, an award winning, 99-seat contemporary theatre company in its 16th season, seeks a passionate, energized candidate for the position of Associate Artistic Director (AAD).
Know Theatre produces 4-6 shows annually on its main stage along with the annual Cincinnati Fringe Festival. In addition to its main stage programming, Know Theatre runs the Jackson Street Market, a program dedicated to providing resources to local artists, creating new work, and presenting second
stage programming in the Know Theatre's bar, the Underground. Know's educational programming includes a national tour of Calculus: The Musical.
The AAD supports the Artistic Director (AD) on all fronts, including: programming selection, fund development, community outreach, and day to day management of the company. The AAD is responsible for managing the education program, directing 1-2 shows a year, and acting as Producing Director of the Cincinnati Fringe Festival.
As Know Theatre has a small, but mighty, staff, the AAD will also be expected to assist with day to day operations of the theatre, including facilities maintenance and management of the bar. A more comprehensive list of duties follows.
-Assist the AD in selection of main stage season.
-Assist in casting process for actors, designers and other guest artists as needed.
-Assist in the creation of production budgets and consult with Managing Director and AD on the annual
-Direct 1-2 main stage shows per season.
-Manage the programs and artists of the Jackson Street Market. Recruit new participants, create
connections and foster collaboration within the Market.
-Book and manage the Fringe Encores series throughout the year.
-Oversee all aspects of the Education program including creation of scripts, execution of contracts, and
direction of education shows.
-Lead the creation of supplementary education programs such as workshops, talkbacks, etc.
-Seek new ways to sell the Education programs to schools, colleges, and businesses in the region.
-Assist in managing the Box Office operation.
-Manage volunteers for all needs throughout the year including: Fringe Festival, mainstage
productions, and other volunteer needs.
-Manage bar operations, including: private party booking and execution, bar inventory maintenance,
daily reconciliation, event management.
-Assist in the development or maintenance of relations with groups such as the United States
Association of Fringe Festivals, Theatre Communications Group, National New Play Network.
-Assist the AD and MD in creating annual development goals and calendars and creation of grant
-Serve as the Producing Director for the Cincinnati Fringe Festival
-Creation of season timeline for the Festival.
-Securing venues annually for Festival performances.
-Assemble committees for all aspects of the Festival to include
Performance Fringe and Visual Fringe. Ensure that all committees are meeting their goals, timelines
-Create and implement a seasonal budget for the Festival.
-Create and execute contracts for participants, technicians, box office assistants.
-Work with and mentor the Associate Producer of the Cincinnati Fringe Festival.
-Assist in managing relations with Fringe sponsors, donors, patrons.
-Manage all festival staff including venue technicians, box office, volunteers, production team, etc.
-Increase annual submissions and attendance.
-Assist the company with maintenance and improvement of facility as needed. Duties to include:
cleaning, repairs, organization, etc.
-Assist with management of bar operation and house management for main stage and presented events

-Bachelor's Degree in Theatre or equivalent experience.
-Basic knowledge of all aspects of theatre including producing, technical theatre, development,
