With the opening of Know Theatre's Abraham Lincoln’s Big Gay Dance Party to big, beautiful, sold-out crowds and the critical acclaim garnered for Gruesome Playground Injuries, we’re off to a tremendous start of our 14th season.
And this is just the beginning. We are thrilled about our upcoming regional premiere of Collapse, a portrait of a couple in the throes of recovery from the collapse of the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis, and the regional premiere of one of the hottest new shows in the country, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson.
This year has been an exceptional challenge for Know Theatre. You know this. We’ve come to our community twice this year asking you for additional support to help ensure that we can continue to create the kind of work that we love, and we believe that you love. With your support, and the generous matching gift from the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr./U.S. Bank Foundation we were able to raise more than $28,000 in under two months.
The thing is, we don’t like having emergency funding concerns. Raising emergency funds produces an unhealthy environment in which to create. It wears on our relationships with individuals in our community – with you. In the end, what we’re working toward as an organization is exactly the opposite of that. We’re touched and invigorated and we couldn’t be more grateful that our community stepped up and saw us through our challenging times.
As we work towards building a sustainable company, we are creating a new way to support the unique and important work that Know Theatre brings to our city. In lieu of the traditional “year-end-giving-so-you-can-get-a-last-second-tax-deduction campaign,” we invite you to join the Club of Jacksons.
The Club of Jacksons is Cincinnati’s first ever crowd sourced production sponsorship opportunity. With your help, we’ll raise 1120 Jacksons ($20 bills) between December 2011 and March 2012. If we are successful, we will have raised $22,400 which will become our community funded production sponsorship for Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson.
We are blessed to have a few supporters who believe in Know Theatre enough and have the means to sponsor a production at $20,000. But we also recognize that many individuals such as yourself might not be able to generously sponsor a show on their own, but through the power of many, you can bring this production to life.
