Know Theatre of Cincinnati

BLINK

Amid the bustle of BLINK weekend (October 8-11), Know Theatre is diving into a quieter world: a FREE under-the-sea, starfish-themed art exhibit built with sensory friendly needs in mind. Step inside as the noise of the festival gives way to a comfortable place to pause, use the restroom, let the kids enjoy a FREE snack, and take in the art, away from the crowds outside.

Featuring ocean creatures, a giant whale, and a shipwreck rising from what was once the Make Believe set, the Know’s under-the-sea venue is a softer take on BLINK. In partnership with the Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub, nothing here went to waste. Every element is a found material, brought to life by guest artists Brandon Johnston, Noelle Wedig-Johnston, plus Know staff, Becca Armstrong and Drew Homan.

We will have recycled over 1500 pounds of trash by the end of building this FREE art installation.

WANT TO MAKE ART AND EARN FREE TICKETS TO SHOWS?

Volunteers can help us craft sea weed, coral, starfish, & other sea creatures to join our ocean. You can also help prep the space by working on the installations or any other production related task. All projects will depend on where we are in the process and what you volunteers are interested in.

We couldn’t do this without you! As a thank-you for your time, volunteers can earn FREE tickets and Flex Passes for the remainder of our Season 29 MainStage shows. Our BLINK programming is a super fun way to rack up hours!

2 hours = 1 free ticket
4 hours = 2 free tickets
6 hours = 3 free tickets
8 hours = 1 FREE Flex Pass (5 tickets)
8+ hours = Additional thank-you perks!

Know Theatre of Cincinnati exists to build belonging through bold theatre. On our 99-seat black box stage in Over-the-Rhine, artists and audiences meet to make work you cannot see anywhere else. Supporting the Know is supporting theatre across its full lifecycle, from children exploring the stage for the first time, to students bridging the gap between college and the real world, to emerging artists developing their first work, to professionals making their mark in Cincinnati and the rest of the world.

None of it runs on ticket sales alone. Your gift pays fair wages to Cincinnati artists, keeps our doors open to people who could not otherwise afford a seat, and keeps ambitious new work on our stage. Whether it is a one-time $15 gift, a legacy commitment, or underwriting an ad, it is what makes bold, belonging theatre possible.
